Enjoying an espresso is an opportunity for a brief pause during a busy day. At Adda Coffee & Tea, we honor this small moment by serving espresso exclusively counter-side in elegant demitasses from Bombabird Ceramics.
Bombabird emerged from the mind of Pittsburgh native Chelsea Erdner. Her love of ceramics began in high school when an art teacher recognized her talent, and wrote her excuse notes so she could continue to work on her projects. She focuses her style on utilitarian minimalism, creating pieces that are useful as well as beautiful. Each Bombabird mug nestles neatly into your hand, molding to you in a way that speaks to the care and attention Chelsea places into crafting each piece.
A partnership between Adda and Bombabird blossomed when Adda commissioned the Travel Series mugs, a project that is tied to our quarterly focus on a specific region of the world. Chelsea takes each region as an inspiration to create a mug that’s reflective of that place; landscape, sights, smells, sounds and art. When Adda featured Hawaii, she created a mug with interplaying shades of light browns and blues, resembling the ocean meeting the sand. For South Africa, she created a mug with dark brown stripes over a light brown base, inspired by the Western ridges of the country’s landscape.

Chelsea’s portfolio extends beyond mugs. In her Homewood studio, she makes vases, candlesticks, and dinnerware (her favorite thing to craft). At Adda, we like to capture some of the grace of daily life by using Bombabird mugs. Consider bringing one home so you can take those peaceful moments wherever you go.
