Every other weekend, Adda Coffee & Tea hosts a modern High Tea service. Originating in Britain, high tea was traditionally a meal for the working class, usually consisting of a cup of tea and toast or meat pie to help get workers, without the luxury of a substantial lunch break, through the day. The service evolved into “afternoon tea” for the upper classes and included finger sandwiches, scones, and other delicacies, but still served as a refreshment to hold one’s appetite over from lunch to dinner.
Adda’s High Tea service captures the essence of afternoon tea as a time of rest. It’s a place to set work aside and connect and we, at Adda, relish in the opportunity to slow down and offer a service rooted in leisure.
Presentation is an important part of the High Tea experience. The tables are dressed with white linen tablecloths and tiered platters piled high with small bites. Frittatas, finger sandwiches, bouchons, madeleines, macarons, and scones, all prepared in-house or sourced from our local partners, are just a few of the delights that may appear through the service.
We offer unlimited tea service with a variety of Rishi green, black, white, oolong, and herbal teas. Along with traditional teas, we offer Blue Jasmine tea lattes, made with jasmine tea, pea blossom syrup and steamed oat milk, for a rich, velvety indulgence. Our baristas steep and serve each tea variety to bring out the most fragrant notes.
High Tea at Adda turns Saturday and Sunday afternoons into a unique occasion to spend time with friends and family or turn a small group gathering such as a baby or bridal shower into an extra special memory.
