Dive into a good book with Reading is FUNdamental Pittsburgh

Adda Coffee and Tea House partners with Reading is FUNdamental Pittsburgh to bring books to kids

At Adda Coffee and Tea House, we want to brew you a great cup of coffee and help connect you with the world around you. With all of our collaborations, we seek to foster local and global connections that help our communities grow.

For our summer 2020 collaboration, we wanted to benefit a non-profit that was close to home. The COVID-19 pandemic has left many of us with plenty of time at home which is the perfect opportunity to dive into a book! We partnered with Reading is FUNndamental Pittsburgh, a non-profit that helps foster a love of reading in young children and addresses the literacy crisis in communities that are under-served.

Nearly two-thirds of low-income families do not own any books for their children.  RIF Pittsburgh connects with these families through initiatives that help distribute books widely. The Storymobile, a library-on-wheels, brings books into communities on a biweekly basis. Having a mobile library means that kids are able to self-select books, which RIF Pittsburgh believes is crucial to developing a positive relationship with reading. Their Book Babies program works with younger children, inviting them aboard the Storymobile for story time, crafts, group play and helps parents connect with others in the community.

The Storymobile

For this charity partnership, we created a specialty drink that would elicit a summer-y feeling; bright and sweet. The latte rose water latte with notes of apricot and almond is meant to inspire the feeling of reading in a lovely summer garden. 100 percent of the profits will be donated to RIF Pittsburgh.

Come into Adda sometime in the next month or two, give it a taste yourself and support Reading is FUNdamental Pittsburgh’s mission to spread the joy of reading!
