One of the most ubiquitous sounds at Adda Coffee and Tea House is the ringing of timers. As a tea house, we know that every second of steep time is important to bring forth the individual beauty and flavor of each tea. We love our timers because we’re suckers for an excellent cup! The water needs to be the perfect temperature to impart the delicate flavors of the tea leaves. Thankfully, our tea supplier, Rishi Tea and Botanicals, is just as committed to making their teas shine from the moment they are picked.

While traveling in Asia, owner Joshua Kaiser, grew very fond of the traditionally grown and handcrafted teas there. He founded Rishi Tea and Botanicals in 1997, with the mission to bring these teas to the North American market.
Rishi Tea and Botanicals is committed to working with small farms and families that have been growing organic teas for generations. The company works on a direct trade model, forming personal relationships and trade agreements with growers who are farming using ecologically sustainable methods. The relationships with these farmers allow Rishi to share the story of each tea, such as their Iron Goddess of Mercy. This oolong tea is crafted only in the winter and spring by a fourth generation teamaker in Taiwan. Rishi draws inspiration from a variety of culinary sources and traditions, as well as cocktail mixology, botanical apothecary, and third wave coffee culture.

At Adda Coffee and Tea, we carry 23 varieties of Rishi teas, from classics like Earl Grey and peppermint to unique blends like cinnamon plum and peach blossom. One of our favorite Adda traditions is our High Tea service. This modern service is an elevated but intimate way to enjoy time with friends, snack on pastries and sample some of Rishi’s finest teas. Slowing down to enjoy life’s small moments is a value that Rishi helps Adda Coffee and Tea House honor.
