Help a kid dive into a good book!

July 7, 2020

Escaping into a good book can be one of the best parts of the day. At Adda Coffee & Tea House, we believe reading should be accessible to everyone, so for the next three months, we’re partnering with Reading Is FUNdamental Pittsburgh.

RIF Pittsburgh is a local chapter of a national non-profit organization that provides “children with access to self-selected books, creating positive environments that motivate children to develop a lifelong love of reading, and engages families in literacy practices in the home.” Around two-thirds of low-income families don’t own any books, so the program focuses on providing services to more than 23,000 of Pittsburgh’s most economically disadvantaged children.

Nationally, RIF has 17,000 programs in all 50 states, as well as Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico. The programming is led by more than a million volunteers, teachers and advocates. Adda is excited to be able to join this team!

From now until September, we’re featuring a specialty latte made with rose water, almond and apricot extract. This can be added to our matcha lattes as well. We will donate all the proceeds from the sales of the drink to RIF Pittsburgh. We hope that when you have a sip you’ll be transported to reading in a garden on a summer day; one of our favorite ways to enjoy a good book! This latte is available at both locations.

Want to do some reading this summer but need a little motivation? We’re also getting ready to launch the Adda Book Club. Check out our form to sign up to lead a group or participate!
