Style412’s Elysia Newman dishes on her self-care routine
In the hustle of everyday life, it’s easy to focus on taking care of others and forget to do a little something extra for yourself. At Adda, we know you can’t pour from an empty cup (get it?), so this week, we checked in with one of our partners, Elysia of Style412, about her wellness routine to get some inspiration.
Hi, I’m Elysia. In addition to being the founder of Style412 (Pittsburgh’s first and only fashion non-profit), I'm a HUGE wellness nut. Fashion and wellness are two of my greatest passions and I believe there is a lot of obvious crossover. As an advocate for self-care, part of my routine is spending a lot of time self reflecting and being in touch with my inner needs so that I look and feel best on the outside.
Here’s some of my daily self-care and wellness routine!
Outside of drinking a huge glass of water, one of the first things I make sure to do every morning is eat a small snack. I’m definitely one to get irritable if I don’t put some food in the tank before noon. I try to stay away from snacks high in refined sugar and usually granolas that I find at the grocery store just don’t do it for me. LÜME is a vitamin and adaptogen-infused granola with zero refined sugar. It also has collagen and biotin for hair and skin benefits and pearl powder to enhance mood. Edible beauty for the win!
2PM: Dram Beauty Bubbles™ Adaptogenic CBD Sparkling Water
I’ve become a little addicted to this sparkling water. As I head into the second half of my work day, having a little kick of CBD to override the caffeine works wonders. It’s made from rose water and flower essences that make it taste wonderful and it’s packed with an array of adaptogens that lower stress.
7PM: 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil by The Ordinary
For the past few years, my nightly go-to has been the Rosehip Seed Oil by the Ordinary. Rosehip Seed Oil is great for complexion: brightening, smoothing fine lines and moisturizing. I apply it after showering so that my pores can absorb it better and then seep in all night long. I’ve yet to find one that does the trick better! Just a little background on The Ordinary...they are what you would call beauty market disrupters that came in and challenged the status quo. They’ve made a few enemies along the way but many beloved customers (myself included) who enjoy more advanced solution products (high potency retinol, copper peptides, etc.) at honourable costs. I bow down in thanks.
9PM: Sleep in Sunday Botanical Tea by Hello Goldie
Hello Goldie, goodbye sleep deprivation! This organic hemp-infused tea may be the most effective “sleep tea” I’ve had to date. I also like that it’s an alternative to melatonin and valerian root, which honestly just trips me out sometimes. I haven’t felt nearly as groggy waking up the next day either. It’s the perfect way to end a day.
