Team Adda shares what’s on their summer reading lists

July 10, 2020

Our recent partnership with the non-profit organization, Reading is FUNdamental Pittsburgh, had all of us in Team Adda asking ourselves what we’ve been reading recently. Our website editor and content lead, Celine has been keeping her reading coffee-focused lately, so we asked her to fill us in on what’s piquing her interest.

“I’m a huge fan of print magazines, especially ones centered around food, beverage and culture. I’m the kind of person that reads cookbooks to relax. I think illustrations and photos really help connect the reader to the experience of anything that’s tactile, like cooking, eating, gardening or making coffee.

When I joined Team Adda, I found Standart Magazine in our Bazaar and borrowed a copy of Issue 19 to browse. This absolutely gorgeous magazine is like a perfectly dialed-in espresso; it feels good in the hand, it looks beautiful and the topics are diverse and layered. Upon first glance, it would be easy to dismiss it as pretty coffee table fodder but reading through the articles, it’s clear that it’s timely and well-researched storytelling. I particularly enjoyed the article, 'Neurodiversity in Coffee,' which examines how conditions like dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD and autism affect neurodivergent coffee professionals and the coffee industry.

There are currently 18 other issues to explore and I can’t wait to order a few copies.”

The New Rules of Coffee

If you’re looking for some other reading material on coffee, you can also check out The New Rules of Coffee: A Modern Guide for Everyone. Written by the founders and editors of the acclaimed coffee and culture online magazine, Sprudge, this book playfully covers the basics of brewing, cafe etiquette and other details of coffee culture. The illustrated guide is perfect for beginners and anyone who wants to learn more about coffee around the world.
